Providing more comprehensive coverage than smaller Burnshield Dressings in case of burns or scalds to the back or torso area. Burnshield contour dressings offer the same optimal burn treatment features as our other Burnshield products over a broader burn area. They are a large-sized sterile burn dressing that will provide maximum coverage and relief of a burn wound in an emergency.
The product is non-toxic and non-irritant.
The dressings are safe for use on children.
Saturated in sterile Burnshield Hydrogel specially designed to dissipate heat and soothe the area with antimicrobial all-natural tea-tree oil, the dressing keeps the wound moist.
Large burn dressing size of 1m x 1m or 1m x 2m fully covers and quickly cools large areas providing immediate relief and shock reduction.
Fibreless cotton reduces the risk of contamination and residue.
Flexible elastic foam sheeting ensures the dressing is easy to apply and conforms to the wound area with ease in an emergency.
The product is supplied in an individually wrapped foil pouch, ensuring it remains sterile for safe application.
A non-adherent large burn dressing allows for easy removal with saline solution or water, minimising the risk of skin damage and enabling easy wound inspection.
Cost-effective due to the combination of large size and maximum cooling effect, plus a long shelf life of five years from the date of manufacture.
When should you use a Burnshield Contour Dressing?
A Burnshield contour dressing is designed for use on all large burn areas requiring first aid treatment. They are suitable for treating 1st, 2nd, and 3rd-degree burns, including facial burns and scalds. A large-sized sterilised burn dressing should be applied to a burn wound as soon as possible to cool the wound area. The larger the burn trauma area, the more critical it is to apply a dressing quickly to safely cool the wound, reducing the risk of shock and further tissue damage.
Burnshield Contour Dressings are suitable to treat large burns caused by:
Scalds from liquid or steam
Contact with fire
Thermal contact
Electrical contact
Exposure to harmful chemicals
Exposure to radiation
If the burn wound is large or deep, you should always seek medical advice from a professional as soon as possible.
How to Apply a Burnshield Contour Dressing
A qualified first aider or medical professional should be tending to a patient suffering from a burn or scald. Where this is not possible, the dressing packaging provides clear Burnshield instructions on how to use the dressing on a burn wound.
Follow these simple steps when treating a burn wound with a Burnshield contour dressing:
Remove any tight or restrictive items from the burn area, such as jewellery or clothing.
Do not remove any items firmly stuck to the wound unless they are still hot or smouldering.
Do not disturb the wound area or burst any blisters.
Open the foil package containing the Burnshield contour dressing and remove it.
Gently apply the dressing to the burnt area, ensuring that the Burnshield hydrogel goes beyond the surface area of the burn and that the dressing fully covers the wound.
Secure the dressing in place with a protective bandage. You may require multiple bandages to secure the Burnshield contour dressing to a large area safely.
Continue to soak the dressing area with Burnshield Hydrogel, if available. If the dressing is kept moist, it can remain in place for up to 48 hours.
Seek urgent medical advice for any large or deep burns and monitor the patient for signs of shock.
Be prepared and ensure compliance with child care legal obligations
